Ozon will employ more than 500 inmates in its warehouses

The project is called “Ozon without trial”, the participants will receive a paid job. For this reason, the company wants to help convicts to adapt socially and increase employment possibilities after release. There is an additional processing fee.

Project participants will collect customer orders and process returns to warehouses. Convicts will not participate in the delivery of the courier or in the work at the collection point. Only those who are serving their sentence for the first time may participate, and only in the penitentiary centers and colonies of the settlement.

Before hiring, each candidate is interviewed. By the end of the year, Ozon will attract more than 500 convicts from different regions of the country. At the same time, the number of such employees should not exceed 10% of all warehouse employees. It is planned to employ them at facilities in the Moscow region, Kazan and Rostov-on-Don.

Last fall, the company already implemented a similar project together with the Federal Penitentiary Service of St. Petersburg. So Ozon introduced several dozen convicts as part of forced labor. As noted on the market, the project turned out to be effective.

“With the scale of the project, we want not tens, but hundreds of people to be able to acquire relevant and sought-after logistics skills, which will be useful to them in their future employment, and to help those who once stumbled,” says Natalia Labunicheva, HR director of the supply chain department.

After launch, project participants will be able to continue working in the warehouse.
