Apple has fixed several vulnerabilities in iOS 16.6, macOS Ventura 13.5, watchOS 9.6, and tvOS 16.6. Two of them were actively used by hackers for hacked devices.

Vulnerability CVE-2023-38606 was discovered by Kaspersky Lab. According to Boris Larin, one of the company’s employees, CVE-2023-38606 was used by hackers to hack iPhones via iMessage using “Operation Triangulation”.

To the point: Apple has closed the “Operation Triangulation” vulnerability in iOS 16.5.

According to Apple’s description, this vulnerability could change the confidential state of the kernel. Apple has also found cases where it was used in older versions of iOS released for iOS 15.7.1.

The second fixed infection vulnerability with the WebKit engine. Handling web content seemed like lost code. This issue was first fixed in Rapid Security Response in iOS 16.5.1(c), but Apple also fixed it in iOS 16.6 for those who do not already have iOS 16.5.1(c) installed.
