Elon Musk is about to make another seemingly unnecessary change to X, formerly known as Twitter. As noted luckmagnate plans to remove preview titles and descriptions it appears when any account, especially in the media, publishes news or articles of any type on the platform.

According to the aforementioned media outlet, this is what X (Twitter) already testing by order of Elon Musk. “They offered it to advertisers who didn’t like it, but it happens,” an anonymous source told the aforementioned publication.

Musk, yes, will not completely eliminate the preview that appears when someone pastes a link to a news story, but with the change that the mogul plans to apply, automatically only the image and website url will be displayed. In order for a post (or tweet) to be published with a title or a short description of what is in the article, the editor must enter it manually before posting the content.

Reasons for the change? Apparently reduce tweet size in order to show more content in the user’s feed. Also, avoid clickbait preventing alarmist headlines or really irrelevant headlines. Yes, this last reason doesn’t make much sense when you consider that images can also serve to grab the reader’s interest and access to the article, and that the editor can manually include the title in the tweet.

For now, it is not clear when this change will be implemented to all publications containing a link to the news. We reiterate that X (Twitter) is still testing this new feature, but given how quickly the platform implements the new feature, we may see news tweets with just an image and a URL in the coming days.

Elon Musk also wants to get rid of another feature in X (Twitter)

Moreover, this is not the only change that Elon Musk wants to make to the platform. A few days ago, the leader announced his intention remove account lock feature. This prevents the user from seeing the tweets, profile picture, or bio of the person. Musk believes that the ability to mute an account in X (Twitter) is enough, and that both functions should not coexist.

Nevertheless, highly unlikely that Elon Musk will end up removing the account lock button on X (Twitter). Mainly, since the App Store and Google Play Store require apps in which the user generates content, it is possible to block those accounts that may be offensive.
