WhatsApp will allow users to instantly create groups anonymously. The announcement was made by Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg on his Facebook account this Wednesday (23).
Zuckerberg wrote in his profile: “When you don’t want to suggest another name, we make it easy to start WhatsApp groups by naming them based on who’s in the chat.”
Currently, WhatsApp requires groups to have names in order to be created. However, anonymous group chats can have up to six participantstraditional ones can host up to 1,024 people.
Individual personalization for each member
Each member of anonymous groups will see a different version depending on how they saved their contacts. If the user does not have a participant’s contact information, the person’s number will appear in the header.
The new feature is expected to be rolled out globally by WhatsApp in the coming weeks for both iOS and Android smartphones and in the web version.. The innovation also accompanies other features that Meta’s messenger has rolled out this month, such as sending HD videos and photos.
