In the first half of 2023, Russians received more than 3.8 billion annoying spam calls, twice as many as last year. This information was provided by MTS, a mobile operator.
MegaFon also noted that the number of spam calls increased by 40% compared to the previous year. Tele2 operator reported that each subscriber receives an average of eight to nine advertising calls per month.
In the number of spam calls, Moscow and St. Petersburg was the leader, followed by the cities of Krasnodar, Ufa, Novosibirsk, Yekaterinburg, Rostov-on-Don, Kazan and Samara. To combat spam, operators use big data analytics to identify spam by attributes such as duration, frequency, volume, and user response.
