Recall that Apple bought Intel’s modem business in 2019 but is still using Qualcomm’s 5G modems.
Kuo claims that the first device with the new modem will be the fourth-generation iPhone SE. Currently, iPhone 14 uses Qualcomm X65 modem to support 5G. New modems will be installed not only on the iPhone, but also on other devices of the brand that support cellular communications.
However, mass production of the new modem encountered difficulties due to problems in the supply chain.
This could delay the launch of Apple’s 5G technology until 2025. The company is actively striving for independence, which is confirmed by its own M series processors for personal computers.
