The letters contain information about violations regarding the protection of patients’ personal data and suggestions to eliminate the violation by updating the patient database of health institutions.
If the fraudsters managed to obtain this information, they not only had the information needed to steal money from bank accounts, but also information about the patients’ illnesses. This way, scammers can blackmail a person and demand money in exchange for not disclosing their health information.
