The Ministry of Digital Development introduces new cybersecurity standards for hosting providers. They must be registered in the Russian Federation, locate servers in the country and “provide access” to the FSB and Roskomnadzor.
If the system detects cyber attacks, for example DDoS, perpetrated through resources hosted by the hosting provider, it must block them within 12 hours, writes Kommersant with reference to the department’s document.
In total there are ten items on the list; The source of the publication at one of the hosting providers confirmed that there are no such requirements so far.
Companies will also have to participate in exercises to disconnect RuNet from the global network. Market participants say that compliance with these measures threatens to increase rates for customers and also creates the threat of a new type of attack on sites: through official blocking.
