The report is the EU’s first assessment of how platforms deal with disinformation under the Digital Services Act (DSA). Accordingly, the largest platforms need to explain their strategies to combat disinformation.
The report highlights that Company X plays a significant role in spreading misinformation compared to other major platforms. Thus, X has the highest rate of misinformation sharing and ranks first in terms of discoverability of such content, followed by Facebook.and Instagram.
European Commission Vice President Vera Jourova emphasized that all major platforms must adapt to the ongoing fight against disinformation. She also warned that the upcoming EU elections will be a decisive test for the platforms that signed the law.
Company X disputed the report’s findings and stated its commitment to the DSA.
