In the third quarter of 2023, the average cost of a used car in Russia increased by 39% in annual terms and reached 640 thousand rubles. Sales of this type of car have increased by 14.2% since mid-summer compared to the same period last year.

Used cars have risen in price by 39% in Russia

The sales leaders among the brands have traditionally been Avtovaz, Toyota, Kia, Hyundai and Volkswagen. The best-selling model for more than 3 million rubles is the Toyota Camry (3.5 million rubles), followed by the Toyota Land Cruiser (5.5 million) and the BMW X5 (6.8 million).

In the middle price segment – from 1.5 million to 3 million – there is also the Toyota Camry (2.2 million rubles), followed by the Kia Sportage (2.1 million rubles) and the Hyundai Creta (1. 85 million rubles).

In the ranking of inexpensive cars up to 1.5 million rubles, the first place is taken by Lada Priora (430 thousand rubles), then Lada Granta (300 thousand rubles) and Lada 2114 Samara (540 thousand rubles).

Used car sales grow quarter by quarter. Noticeable growth is observed in the price segments from 1.5 to 3 million rubles and from 3 million rubles – 81.8% and 80.6%, respectively.

  • At the end of September, Ozon launched online car sales on its site. Currently, the service is available in Moscow and the Moscow region. The company promises that the list of cities will grow over time. For now, only cars from Delivery Car LLC, an online distributor of the Chinese brand Chery, are available on the market.
