At the Vostok station, scientists studied snow accumulation for half a century. Observations have shown that more precipitation occurs when temperatures rise. For example, a 1°C increase in warming will lead to an 11% increase in snow accumulation. Thus, the largest increase in profits occurred in the last twenty years.
However, the mass of Antarctica does not increase due to snow accumulation because the melting of the glaciers occurs faster than the snow accumulation, and therefore the mass continues to decrease.
Why is this bad for the planet? In Antarctica, the first to be affected by climate change are animals, especially penguins: there is more rainfall, eggs drown in the snow, chicks get wet, become hypothermic and die. Second, warming leads to a rise in sea levels, which is reflected throughout the planet.
