LG 43UR78006 and Samsung 43cu7100 are the most budget TVs from these manufacturers, as the video was shot on the Pro100tehnika YouTube channel. Both models have 4K resolution.
According to the presenter, Samsung looks a little more modern than its rival from the outside. It is also easier to install.
The appearance of the remote control is also more modern than Samsung’s, but the quality is still better than LG’s.
TVs have completely different backlights (side backlight for Samsung, all around the screen for LG) and matrix types (IPS for LG, VA for Samsung). It turns out that a Samsung TV will have good contrast, good black color but poor viewing angle when viewed directly, while the LG will have a good viewing angle but the contrast is lower than its rival.
I chose this instead of advertising.
With a normal signal with standard color space (SDR), LG performed better. It has better processor, detail and rendering overall. But Samsung wins in terms of colors (they are more colorful). Therefore, if you are going to watch TV channels, LG will be the best option for you.
Due to low contrast (characteristic of IPS) in dark scenes, LG loses detail. In this case, black color depth and contrast remain higher in Samsung. If you like watching movies without lighting, buy Samsung.
Samsung’s contrast deteriorates from different angles. So viewing angles are better on LG.
In terms of smoothness, both TVs performed almost the same. Samsung’s PWM was only at less than 20% brightness, LG even used it at 100% brightness.
In HDR, Samsung wins again. This is due to the limiting properties of VA matrices. Also it is better to play on Samsung TV screen.
Visually, the LG presenter liked the work of Smart TV more. It has a more useful interface and a better designed menu. Technically, the LG system also looks preferable: it supports voice control (by purchasing an additional remote control), and with some manipulations in WebOS you can even install a torrent client.
Every TV has its own pros and cons. If you are buying a model to watch wireless TV channels, it would definitely be better to buy LG. If you sit quite far away from the screen and like to watch movies and TV channels in the dark, Samsung is your best choice. Samsung 43cu7100 is also better suited for gaming and watching high-definition TV channels (4K).
