The parent company of South Korean crypto exchange Upbit reported a multifold increase in hacker attacks over the past 3 years. According to Dunamu, in the first half of 2023, the project experienced more than 159 thousand failed hacking attempts.
South Korea’s largest crypto exchange, Upbit, has published statistics on hacker attacks for the first half of 2023. According to the company, in six months the exchange was attacked more than 159 thousand times; not a single hacking attempt ended successfully for the attackers.
This figure, already impressive, grows year after year. For example, in 2022 there were half as many hacking attempts. In 2020, in turn, the number of hacker attacks on the crypto exchange was 1800% lower, barely exceeding 8 thousand.
Following the 2019 hack, we took several steps to avoid similar situations in the future. That’s why no one has been able to hack Upbit since then.
Upbit has been working seriously to ensure the safety of customer funds after a high-profile hack in 2019. Project tokens worth $50 million were then stolen.
