Last March, Apple partially withdrew from Russia.
At the moment, the company provides the service for all devices that were created before the official stop of sales on March 3, 2022. There are already problems with later devices. Particularly with the newest iPhone 15 line.
We figured out what is happening with service centers now. Spoiler: everything is not as good as we would like, but there is a solution.
Why did you decide to find out what is happening with the service now?
Last week I already noticed that the display of my iPhone 15 Pro started to burn out. He developed poorly developed aureolic acids.
The reasons for this are still unknown. However, there are more and more complaints about this problem every day.
Apple has already confirmed that this screen behavior is not normal. Yes, they can burn out, but not in such a short period of time. In addition, there is a chance that a system error, which will be fixed in the next update, led to the burnout.
For this reason, the company will replace iPhones (or their displays, as applicable) under warranty for free.
What Apple says about servicing new iPhones in Russia
Refusal. No guarantee. Goodbye
Of course, the first call regarding warranty service was Apple technical support. Secondly, the company has found some solution for the residents of Russia.
By the way, you can no longer contact Apple via chat, only by calling 8–800–555–67–34.
Unfortunately, Apple cannot help in this situation. Standard advice: roll back/update to a different version of iOS or contact authorized service centers, expecting that there is a chance that the device will be accepted for service.
Why was the second option even recommended? Authorized service centers are still operating. Service is also at a high level, repairs occur, including paid and urgent ones. But this applies to older devices.
The third tip in support was contacting Apple ACC in another country. The company states that it is not necessary (but highly recommended) to go exactly to the place where the iPhone was purchased. In theory, it can be serviced in other countries where the iPhone 15 is officially sold, but this depends on the specific service.
Apple controls all repair work related to old devices in Russia. That is, authorized service centers work with the full support of Apple. However, the company does not cooperate with services regarding new devices.
The same applies to the replacement procedure.
What actually happens in services. Can you forget about saving?
I called all authorized service centers in Moscow. In almost all cases, the answer was the same – servicing of iPhone 15s purchased in Russia, but outside a normal store, was not offered.
Even on a paid basis, no one provides repair or replacement services for equipment. The standard answer to my questions is this (when restoring the original situation):
For warranty claims, you can only contact the store where you bought the iPhone itself.. This is spelled out in Art. 18 “Law on the Protection of Consumer Rights”.
Because the iPhone is a complex, complex product, the seller is required to pay the buyer either a refund or replacement with an alternative device. Apple technical support said the same thing.
There is another solution
I’ll tell you right away. This option is paid and costs a lot of money.
Among all the ASCs, only Brobrolab provides warranty service for iPhone 14/15. More precisely, their foreign partner is engaged in this, and the company itself acts only as an intermediary.
The service center is ready to send the iPhone to the country where you bought it. However, this service costs 13,000 rubles. The service period ranges from 30 to 90 days. On average, as noted in technical support, everything takes about 29 days.
In this case, you will immediately see whether the case is covered by warranty or not. They have the necessary equipment to conduct doctors. In response, they also confirmed to me that a receipt for the purchase of an iPhone is not required.
Should have just bought it in a regular store
If you bought your brand new iPhone on Gorbushka or in any basement stores, then you can forget about contacting the seller. My case, unfortunately, is precisely this.
It is impossible to contact the official service. Only one can help, and it costs a lot of money.
You can’t go to the seller either, Serovozy does not provide any guarantees.. Moreover, as a rule, they don’t even issue a normal check.
Conclusion: ASC is almost of no use today, and it’s better to buy in normal stores
If you are planning to get something like a new iPhone, then it is better to do it in large networks, restoring:. By the way, MTS has already confirmed that they will replace iPhone 15 with a burnt-out display purchased from them for free, or refund the money for new ones. Everything happens within the framework of a one-year warranty.
Miser pays twice. And now they pay me money for free warranty service.
