MIUI 14 can make any app run at 120 Hz refresh rate. A recently released update for the Xiaomi 12S Pro in China included the functionality of the device.
The new feature can be found at: display frequency settings in the settings menu. When activating the option, the user opens a list of installed applications and must enable the high refresh rate in each application.
Typically, some applications insist on operating at 60 Hz even if higher frequencies are supported. Additionally, the system allows these applications to be forced to take advantage of the higher speed, resulting in smoother navigation.
When installing the build, the system switches to V14.0.10.0.TLECNXM. In addition to the new feature, the package also includes the August 2023 security patch.
Gradual start
It is quite likely that other Xiaomi mobile phones will also receive the new feature in the future. The new MIUI 15 version should also support this featureAs available in MIUI 14.
Nevertheless, There is no estimate on when the new feature will be released for more mobile phones – or if that’s actually going to happen. For now we have to wait for more news.
New MiOS from Xiaomi
Recently, it was discovered that Xiaomi is preparing MiOS, a possible alternative to MIUI that focuses on creating an ecosystem of devices.
Despite strong evidence that the rumor is true, there is still not much information about the new system. Moreover, there is still a possibility that it will be exclusive to China.
