Latest estimates show the production cost of the A17 Pro to be around $130. That’s 27% more expensive than the previous A16 Bionic chip, which cost Apple just $110 per unit.

But an interesting fact: Despite the modern technical process and production difficulties, the A17 Pro turned out to be cheaper than the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 released in 2022.

Qualcomm partners are paying $160 per Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 unit to be used in flagship devices.

Thus, despite the high production cost and cutting-edge technology, Apple managed to make the A17 Pro chip more affordable than its rival from Qualcomm.

However, it is worth noting that the A17 Pro is only available on Apple devices, while the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 is available for various Android smartphone manufacturers.
