While discussing India’s first manned mission, Prime Minister Narendra Modi set ambitious targets for the Indian Space Research Organization (ISRO).

The country plans to have its own Bharatiya Space Station by 2035 and send the first Indian astronaut to the Moon by 2040.

Modi also emphasized the need to develop a long-term program to explore the Earth’s natural satellite, create new rocket launch complexes and human-oriented laboratories.

India’s first human spaceflight, named Gaganyaan, is scheduled for October 21. This launch will demonstrate domestic capabilities for human space missions.
