Russian kick-sharing operator Whoosh tested a pilot batch of electric scooter batteries of its own design. A representative of the company informed RB.RU about this.
These batteries could be part of the scooter designed by Whoosh. The company previously said it plans to create its own electric scooter model and launch it on the market in 2024 or 2025.
The electric batteries have a capacity almost twice as large as current ones (exact figures are not disclosed), charge twice as fast as their counterparts, and also have interfaces for remote data collection.
The company began testing batteries of its own design in the summer of 2023. Currently, more than 100 batteries work in electric scooters in one of the cities where the service operates (the company does not indicate the exact name of the city).
In winter, the project will expand to several southern cities where the service operates all year round.
The batteries of an electric scooter affect the mileage of the electric scooter, the quality of its operation at low and high temperatures, and the safety of operation of the device. Now Whoosh operates more than 180 thousand batteries.
Whoosh is a Russian developer of technological solutions for micromobility transportation, represented in Russia, Belarus, Kazakhstan and Latin America. The total number of users of the service is more than 19 million people. Whoosh has 146.5 thousand scooters.
In December 2022, the company held an initial public offering and its shares are listed on the Moscow Stock Exchange.
