Google faces a third fine for not removing content; Moscow’s Tagansky Court has registered a protocol against Google for repeatedly refusing to remove information prohibited in Russia.
As the court’s press service explained to the Interfax agency, the date for the exam has not yet been set. Google is accused of a crime under section 5 of Art. 13.11 (Repeated commission of administrative infraction).
Roskomnadzor’s claims against Google concern its refusal to remove information related to the Russian-Ukrainian conflict. If the company is found guilty, Google will have to pay a fine of between 1/20 and 1/10 of the total revenue.
If Google is proven guilty, this will be the third fine the company will receive in Russia.
The court first imposed a turnover fine of 7.2 billion rubles on Google in December 2021. In the summer of 2022, the company received a second turnover fine of 21.077 million rubles.
In early October, the Moscow Arbitration Court declared Google’s Russian subsidiary bankrupt.
