Samsung, which currently supplies Apple OLED displays for various devices, is preparing to enter the camera supply chain. Famous analyst Ming-Chi Kuo reported that Samsung will start supplying a 48-megapixel sensor for the iPhone 18, which is likely to be released in two years. These sensors will be used in the PD-TR-Logic configuration, which involves the presence of three chips placed on top of each other in a “sandwich” shape.

The main advantage of using a multilayer sensor is the reduction of the distance over which pixel data must be transmitted. This speeds up image processing, which is especially important for smartphone users who need to take photos quickly. Reducing lag when shooting allows you to make the process more convenient without having to wait for long periods of time.

Rumors claim that Samsung’s new sensor will not only be faster but also more advanced than Sony’s current solutions.
