Famous analyst Ming-Chi Kuo reported that Samsung will start supplying a 48-megapixel sensor for the iPhone 18, which is likely to be released in two years. These sensors will be used in the PD-TR-Logic configuration, which involves the presence of three chips placed on top of each other in a “sandwich” shape.
The main advantage of using a multilayer sensor is the reduction of the distance over which pixel data must be transmitted.
