The Center for Biometric Technologies (CBT) in Russia is actively researching new methods of identifying people. One promising direction is the use of palmar and retinal vascular patterns. These methods promise contactless and more convenient application than traditional fingerprint identification, which faces challenges in mass adoption.
CBT chairman Vladislav Povolotsky emphasized the interest in the development of alternative methods of identification, also touching on identification by walking and handwriting. These studies aim to increase the efficiency and accuracy of human identification. CBRT plans to present a road map for the implementation of new biometric identification methods in Russia in 2024 with the participation of experts and technology developers.
