Director of the Department for the Development of Digital Identification Technologies of the Ministry of Digital Development, Dmitry Dubynin, told Izvestia that pilots using State Services applications instead of a passport plan to take a vacation in 2024.
To use the new function, a citizen will have to submit biometrics and post his photo in the State Services application. He will then be able to provide a special QR code that is present in the system.
Only the necessary information is present. For example, when purchasing alcohol, the seller only takes into account age, and when registering a commercial product – full name, passport details and other necessary information.
Individual pilots will be held as early as 2024. There will be several cases for using the application instead of a passport. Among them are services at banks and MFCs, the purchase of train tickets and flight boarding, as well as the purchase of goods of certain categories. They will be introduced in stages so that the market has time to prepare.
