According to Tsarev, Sberbank plans to launch the first test operations with the digital ruble as early as 2025. This step is one of the stages in the development of digital financial technologies and strengthening the bank’s position in this field.
Participation in the digital ruble pilot program will allow the bank to explore and adapt new technologies for the future implementation of digital currency in the market.
Earlier, Deputy Minister of Finance Alexey Moiseev described the digital ruble as the future cash currency of the 22nd century during the international customs forum. He believes that the digital ruble should replace money and provide ease of use offline without access to the Internet.
