IC “Upper Angara”, owned by billionaire Nikolai Buinov, founded “Nuur 1642” in September 2023. The company will organize VIP tourist trips. Tour sales will begin in spring 2024.
The travel agency is Buinov’s personal project aimed at popularizing Baikal and Siberia, a representative of the businessman told Vedomosti.
“Nuur 1642” will organize excursions with its own team with the participation of chefs, cave guides and extreme route guides. The program includes planting endemic plant species, meeting seal pups left without parents, and releasing rare species of fauna into the lake. Tourists will spend the night in hotels, tents or on a cruise ship.
Over the past three years, demand for VIP travel in Russia has increased by 30%. Experts associate the development of this segment with restrictions on the departure of certain groups of citizens from the Russian Federation and general logistical difficulties that affected Russians with high incomes.
In October, member Cosmos Hotel Group (part of AFK Sistema) announced that it would dedicate itself to VIP tourism. Among the destinations are Altai, Baikal, Kamchatka, Commander and Kuril Islands, Yamal, Chukotka, etc.
According to the results of 2023, Nikolay Buinov was ranked 66th in the Forbes ranking of the richest businessmen in Russia, his fortune is estimated at $1.9 billion, and his main asset is the Irkutsk Oil Company.
