China is increasingly banning officials from using iPhones, writes Bloomberg.

First bans in September. Currently, iPhones cannot be used in most Chinese departments and state-owned companies, in at least eight provinces.

Instead of iPhones, officials should switch to smartphones from Chinese companies.

The true extent of the ban is still unknown. It is also unclear how strict this restriction is and how it is enforced.

US National Security Council spokesman John Kirby previously called China’s iPhone ban “inappropriate retaliation.” [Bloomberg]
