The developer of facial recognition systems VisionLabs abandoned its structure in the Netherlands: at the end of December, the company Similary Society BV withdrew from VisionLabs LLC, in which it owned 100%, according to data from the Unified State Register of Legal Entities.

VisionLabs left its parent company in the Netherlands

As of December 27, 2023, 99% of VisionLabs LLC is owned by the MTS artificial intelligence center – MTS AI, 1% is owned by VL Solutions LLC (VisionLabs structure).

The VisionLabs press service told RB.RU that the current changes represent “a new technical record that will not affect the company’s activities in any way.”

The abandonment of offshore companies, according to experts interviewed by RB.RU, is a trend of the last two years among Russian companies. This is a reaction to general political and sanctions risks.

For example, the presence of investors from “hostile” countries as shareholders can hinder the attraction of funds from Russian banks and investors, Emil Yusupov, managing partner of the Intercession law firm, previously explained.

Previously, the telecommunications operator Yota, the startup Briskly with a self-service platform in stores and several other companies left the Cypriot structure.

VisionLabs creates products based on computer vision and machine learning. The company has been controlled by MTS since 2022: the operator bought a stake through its subsidiary for 7 billion rubles.
