As expected, Google attended CES 2024 and presented many new solutions. And the one that stood out was Android, the world’s main operating system.
This Tuesday (09) the Mountain View giant held a presentation saying that the software aims to facilitate connections between various devices.
Mobile operating system updates will be available not only for smartphones, but also for laptops, Bluetooth accessories, TVs, smart homes, cars and more.
Check out the following Main new features of the Android operating system announced by Google at CES 2024.
Quick Share and Nearby Share merged
In 2020, Google introduced Nearby Sharing, a tool for transferring files between devices. Despite introducing the final version for PC last year, Google practically “killed” the functionality.
Starting in February, Nearby Share will be replaced by Quick Share, a tool for Samsung mobile phones. Google and the South Korean company have formed a partnership to bring the two services together into one.
The tool will work similarly to Share with Nearby, allowing you to transfer files to nearby devices. The new feature will soon come to computers.
Fast Pairing on TVs
Fast Pair, a service that lets you quickly pair Bluetooth devices, is coming to Chromecast with Google TV next month. However, in 2024 the system will come to more Google TV devices.
Quick Pair is promised to make it possible to easily connect headphones or speakers when accessing the television pairing mode.
on TikTok TV
Still on the TV front, Google announced at CES 2024 that users will be able to stream TikTok from their mobile phones to devices with Chromecast starting today. Soon it will even be possible to watch live broadcasts from the social network on television.
Standard item on more devices
To increase the connectivity of a smart home, LG televisions, Google TV devices and other devices with Android TV will soon serve as a hub for Google Home, according to Google.
In other words, it will be possible to control electronics such as smart bulbs via Nest Hub, Nest Mini or televisions compatible with the new Matter standard (from the Google Home application).
Connecting Android Auto to electric cars
The Android Auto car app will allow compatible electric vehicles to share real-time information with Google Maps. Once connected, drivers will be able to see details like battery level, recommended charging stops and more through the app.
Starting today, anyone using Google Auto software will be able to send travel information from their phone to Google Maps in the car’s system.
The technology giant even developed Google Play applications for cars. It’s now possible to access an improved version of Chrome and watch videos from apps like Crunchyroll directly from the car screen.
