The release of the long-awaited Vision Pro will take place only on February 2. Chinese craftsmen have already copied the helmet and donated an analogue for about $500.

Of course, the similarities are only superficial. The Android copy does not have a Digital Crown (volume is controlled by buttons), the body materials are worse, and there is no external display.

In addition, the device cannot use eye and hand tracking. To control it, a low-quality controller is provided, which is supported by USB-C (via the same port you can stream the image to a computer, including a Mac). With its help, gesture control is simulated.

There is also an augmented reality mode here. However, this is more of a VR headset, and blogger from the Unbox Theraphy channel called the image quality “decent”, but not always.

The authors of the Luke Miani channel said that in AR the picture is “disgusting”, there is no parallax effect, and everything looks pretty bad.

The interface of the Chinese clone Vision Pro is also copied from VisionOS. It doesn’t run as smoothly, but it’s “not bad overall.” Embedded applications often run in 2D and have no spatial effect.

By the way, you can launch several applications at once and work in them simultaneously.

From this helmet you can run any Android applications downloaded via apk files. However, they only work in 2D mode.

In short, bloggers’ impressions of the device were rather negative. In their opinion, a helmet with a stretch costs even $500, but, fortunately, enthusiasts were quickly able to copy the Vision Pro.
