Cronus, the maker of Cronus Zen, acknowledged the problem in a statement on its website and told users that the update broke the device’s compatibility with PS5. However, it is not yet known whether the block was implemented deliberately by Sony or whether it is an unintended consequence of the update.

Cronus Zen became famous for its ability to manipulate controller inputs, giving users an unfair advantage in competitive multiplayer games by allowing users to reduce recoil, set macros, and even use a keyboard and mouse. This has sparked widespread criticism and calls for action against such fraudulent practices.

The Cronus Zen ban, although unintentional, is a positive development in the fight against cheating in games. This follows similar measures taken by other gaming companies, including Xbox, Activision Blizzard, Ubisoft, Bungie and Epic Games, to stop the use of unauthorized controllers and third-party hardware for cheating purposes.
