The study was suitable for people with quadriplegia due to cervical spinal cord injury or motor neuron disease (ALS).

The initial goal of Neuralink’s BCI is to enable people to control a computer cursor or keyboard using only their thoughts.

Musk did not disclose details about the procedure or the status of the trial, but noted that “preliminary results show encouraging detection of neural firings.”
