Two years ago, in addition to my MacBook Pro 16 on the M1 Pro, I threw a classic Apple wipe for wiping screens into the basket.

What do you want, I then paid 250 thousand for a bar, I could take the clothes with me for change.

By this time, the news had already been ridiculed for a couple of months for its outrageous price of 2,000 rubles, but people did not listen to the critics and bought it.

Western journalists called the technological rag the most popular Apple product in 2021, and in our traditionally professional and deeply neuronal editor-in-chief review Nikita Goryainov he rightly clarified that this is not a rag, but a napkin, since the apple has a seal. But I was upset that he also circled the main disadvantage (besides the price) is the fact that “the duration alone is not enough.”

Let me remind you that the napkin is thick and consists of two layers. Textile similar to shoe suede

Well, for two years I carefully kept napkin in its original envelope sleeve and would anxiously pull it out somewhere once a week to wipe down my precious 16-inch MacBook Pro XDR display.

And, you know, for the owner of the gray rag, my savings during this time brought many results.

Let’s start with the strange.

Still smells like some kind of perfume

Even out of the box, the napkin had a characteristic aroma, reminiscent of perfume with powdery notes of leather. I still remember how I opened the envelope and was immediately overwhelmed.

Perhaps it’s because the fabric is sealed 99% of the time. I keep the accessory in the same case in which it is sold. It has an insert and is ideal for transportation.

During use, I washed the washcloth, drove it through gas-filled stations, and wiped borscht off the screen (well, sorry).

She doesn’t care at all, the smell remains like new. There are two versions: either there is some kind of impregnation inside between the layers, or the thick pile tightly clings to the fragrance molecules.

If it’s the second one, I won’t be surprised. The pile here is really good.

Fingerprints disappear almost magically

I can’t compare the special material with any microfiber.

Strange stains are difficult to remove, but do not interfere with cleaning the glass.

Nikita Goryainov In my review I wrote that the screen can be wiped with an Apple cloth easily and without pressure.

But my experience from day one was different. With a simple and easy movement, the fabric only collects two days of dust.

Using your fingers to open the MacBook around the screen after first use. And the napkin is ideal for wiping them with one condition.

When cleaning, you need to touch the screen well. It is not necessary to press the fabric into the glass, or press the napkin in the direction of friction.

Fat is erased with a couple of frictions, and in this regard, efficiency has not decreased in two years. Just as the instant divorces passed, so it remains.

Moreover, it is necessary to take into account that I really washed it rarely, 4 times at most.

At the same time, I almost always use water for various contaminants.

It rubs off just as badly when dry.

I’m in front of my laptop. That’s it, he admitted it.

In addition to the MacBook workstation, there is also my main YouTube platform, so even with all the frugality, drops of water, sauces and soups sometimes fly on the screen.

They are noticeable unnoticeably, but very quickly turn into dense dots that a dry cloth cannot pick up.

Therefore, before wiping, I always wet one corner with water, run them over the surface a couple of times to soften the dirt, and then polish them until clean.

This minus was the main disappointment when I first used it. The peculiarity is that the fabric clung tightly to the surface.

No longer sticks to glass

When the napkin was new, it dug ironically into the surface of the screen. With the force of such friction, I was seriously afraid of scratching the light.

The difficulty of manufacturing is mainly when there was a lot of dust. Yes, he didn’t wear the first layer like that, but when the time came to press the fabric harder against the glass, it almost didn’t give in and stayed in place. Here the effort could have demolished the MacBook and the table, no joke.

It’s inside the device, and he remembered that the cloth was originally created for the nanotextured frosted glass on the iMac and Apple Pro Display XDR that came with it. There’s less grip there.

Now the problem is gone. At least this grip causes all kinds of pollution, but wiping dried-on stains with a napkin will not work at all without water.

Easy to care for, but the fabric has lost its shape

After two years and several washes, the entire perimeter of the napkin became unsightly wavy. Sometimes it’s a shame to take one out in a public place. Maybe you need to iron it after drying, I don’t know, but that would be completely fanatical, in my opinion.

At the same time, the remaining properties of the material are preserved despite constant use.

Special imprinting of interaction with moisture.

When I wet the water, the lint catches the droplets dispersedly, rather than absorbing them. A film is formed that, when in contact with the display, leaves a thin layer to soften particularly harmful stains, and also does not spill dangerous streams.

With any other napkin, I would have needed a solution for the screens, and here in two years not a penny was returned for it. This also reduced the price of the napkin.

The killer feature remains: it doesn’t spread grease on glass

I don’t know what kind of chemical structure was used to produce the material, but this is a napkin that only picks up stains from the fingers, and does not transfer them.

It’s the same with any other rag: if you don’t use an alcohol solution, you can’t wipe the participant you’re handling. Skin moisture necessarily gets onto the screen with the image.

And here, no matter what you take, no matter what step you take to the surface, your fingers that touched the rag will not make things worse.

I think that I will take the option from Apple, you need at least a radial magical property to draw in dirt and not transfer it.

Well, I don’t advise saving on fakes. It’s better to take a cheap microfiber with a solution or fork out more and get the best.

Yes, maybe the napkin has visually turned into a gray rag over time, but tactilely and from a practical point of view this is an ideal option.

It will last a long time, but it will look worse

Advertising and 2 years of use

To be honest, I don’t regret the purchase. The anti-glare coating on the MacBook Pro has remained perfect for two years, and I have yet to encounter anything like it.

Yes, accessory you need to learn how to use it, since it turned out to be an unfamiliar material that behaves unpredictably.

For example, before use you need to look at the part and remember that the surface will dry instantly, that you can take any place, and immediately move it across the screen without fear of leaving streaks.

But after a short training, every time I pick up a napkin, I am sure that in a couple of minutes my screen will be clean, without even the slightest dirt. And this is the main point.

Topic: I compared the Apple screen cleaning cloth and its fake on AliExpress. What a twist!
