Apple Vice President Phil Schiller commented on the situation with the advent of application stores on the iPhone.
According to him, alternative stores open up new opportunities for developers. However, they also pose risks for smartphone owners.
These new rules, while they bring new opportunities for developers, also bring new risks. There is no way without this. Therefore, we are doing everything we can to minimize these risks for everyone.
There are things in the regular score that we haven’t been able to address in our App Store—things that we feel would be unsafe or inappropriate. We do not decide whether these other markets will have the same terms and restrictions.
These rules will not apply to another market unless they decide to create their own rules with whatever criteria they accept. Does the risk of users being exposed to objectionable content or different experiences increase? Yes it is.
— Phil Schiller
Schiller worries about apps that are only available in other stores. He believes that such situations make many users speak well of these stores, but at the same time, users will not know everything about them. [9to5]
