Jointly developed by Google and the University of British Columbia, Genie is trained to create interactive gaming environments using a video token and dynamic model. The researchers note that Genie goes beyond 2D worlds and demonstrates a promising step toward shared world models for artificial general intelligence (AGI).

Genie leverages more than 200,000 hours of 2D platform video for education, demonstrating impressive progress in its ability to create consistent and visually engaging content. The developers emphasize that they carefully selected the videos to ensure the quality of the training.
