Chinese company AutoFlight, which develops electric vertical take-off and landing (eVTOL) aircraft, has demonstrated its first long-distance flight with its Prosperity flying taxi.
Demonstration flight between Shenzhen and Zhuhaim. This took 20 minutes, during which time the eVTOL flew 50 km in unmanned mode. It will take 3 hours to travel the return distance between the city’s creatures by car.
AutoFlight CEO Tian Yu said the company is leading officials in Shenzhen and Zhuhai to open dedicated sites for eVTOLs to regularly fly between the cities.
eVTOL can be used for passenger transport, tourism, logistics and emergency services.
Heli-Estern, a helicopter transport company in this direction, has already agreed to buy 100 Prosperity.
eVTOLs can travel long distances much faster than cars without requiring major work. [Interesting Engineering]
