In other words, a child needs five factors to develop well in the first year of life. These include environmental stimulation, nutrition, neighborhood safety, positive grooming, regular circadian rhythms, and sleep. The concept is simple, but it has not yet become a priority because scientists have not provided the empirical data needed to confirm the results.

The study of 232 babies and their mothers examined positive environmental factors during fetal development and the first year of life that improved baby brain development, minimized negative behaviors, and improved cognitive outcomes.

The strongest turned out to be factor T, which contains exactly the five conditions listed above. Even children growing up in adverse and resource-poor environments can develop healthily if they receive environmental stimulation, nutrition, a safe neighborhood, positive care, regular circadian rhythms, and sleep.
