The State Duma and the FSB supported the proposal of the International Academy of Communications (IAC) to ban Internet speed measurement Speedtest from the American company Ookla.

According to the President of the International Academy of Communications, Anastasia Ositis, Ookla operates in operational communication mode with US intelligence services – the Americans were able to create a system for testing communication control networks around the world. Speedtest allows you to collect information about network connections, which can subsequently be used for cyber attacks against the information resources of an organization in any country.

This is the same mechanism for organizing colonial dependence in the ICT sector as SWIFT is in the banking sector.

MAS Academician Sergei Melnik noted that our operators would like to remove the Ookla software. It has alternative Russian analogues. For example, the Linkmeter system.

Representatives of the operators did not comment on MAC’s proposal. [Известия]
