Since the beginning of 2024, Roskomnadzor has fined foreign agencies more than 3.7 million rubles for violating labeling requirements for the materials they distribute. This was announced by the head of the control and supervision department in the field of electronic communications of Roskomnadzor Evgeny Zaitsev.
According to him, the total amount of fines for the absence of markings on the materials of foreign agents exceeded 1 billion rubles, which has become part of the active fight against violations of the law. In order to stop the illegal activities of foreign agents on Russian territory, the law prohibiting advertising on the resources of foreign agents was also strengthened.
State Duma representative Anton Nemkin stated that the new regulatory changes are aimed at reducing the influence of foreign agents in Russia. Penalties for advertisers who cooperate with them are expected to help reduce the revenues of such organizations by 50-80%. This should also lead to a reduction in the production of content that negatively affects public opinion and the country’s interests.
