Employees of the Regional Clinical Tuberculosis Center and the Pasteur Research Institute of Epidemiology and Microbiology have created a new method for determining the genotype of Mycobacterium tuberculosis. It will help quickly and correctly select treatment for patients with this disease. This is important because the earlier the diagnosis is made and treatment is chosen, the faster each patient can be helped.

The first phase of the work on the project was carried out at the Regional Clinical Tuberculosis Center. Here bacteriologists selected materials that met the requirements presented by the research institute. The main aim of the project is to improve the diagnosis of tuberculosis and identify various mutations responsible for the development of drug resistance.

The aim of the study is to examine the genotype to determine the susceptibility to drug resistance of tuberculosis and to detect the propagation characteristics of such strains. The entire project focused on improving diagnostics and identifying mutations associated with drug resistance.
