There are many negative stereotypes about mobile gaming. Almost all of them can be reduced to the thesis: “these are all simple and uninteresting games with a bunch of in-game purchases to make money

I strongly disagree and therefore collected five projects with an interesting plotYou can spend several exciting hours looking at your achievements.

And what was more interesting, the main selection criterion was the fact that these games were originally only played on smartphones and were not large platform ports..

1. Republic

Genre: stealth puzzle
About what: dystopia, corporation and locked girl Hope

The main character of the game, a girl named Hope, is trying to escape from the secret Metamorphosis complex, which is controlled by the brutal dictator Treglazov.

In the process of escaping, she is helped by a mysterious telephone interlocutor, who breaks the locks and, using a camera, shows her the direction where to run and where to hide from the guards.

Hope was in captivity for a reason. The totalitarian side of the state decided that its views were dangerous to society. But this is just the beginning of the story. The further plot develops smoothly, periodically giving the player not the most pleasant questions, especially related to the methods of our mysterious assistant.

I recommend this game to absolutely everyone, although it is not new. Ryan Peyton, who, by the way, was the creative director of Halo 4 and the producer of the fourth part of Metal Gear Solid, had a hand in its development.

2.Final Fantasy Brave Exivus

Genre: JRPG
About what: about saving the world, of course!

The Final Fantasy series has always had its own epic story and a variety of platforms on which to experience that story. However, there are some exceptions to this feature, and Final Fantasy Brave Exvius is one of them. The game is still popular, but has never expanded beyond smartphones.

Why should you play Final Fantasy Brave Exvius, which, by the way, is a free-to-play game with a gacha system? First of all, this is a very beautiful game, made in an unusual style.

The gameplay is designed like a classic 2D RPG with well-drawn backgrounds and characters. The plot, in addition to dialogues, is presented by very interesting cut scenes made in the proprietary CGI format.

You can’t tell the plot in two sentences. It’s big, very dramatic and, of course, tells the story of young people who accidentally take on the task of saving the world. If you want a classic “finale”, but have completed all the numbers, we recommend paying attention, you won’t regret it.

3. In the Dead 2

Genre: first person shooter
About what: a family tragedy in the realities of a zombie apocalypse.

In the first part, I invested quite a large amount of time. There was drive, atmosphere and very addictive gameplay. But there was no plot.

And what a surprise I was when I found out that it was in the second part and was even very good. The game is a prequel to the first parts, they have one main character – James.

At the start of the game yy rides in a truck and delivers supplies somewhere, presumably to his sister Helen and daughter Maggie. But an accident happens, and he decides to get to his family on his father.

The rest of the story is told entirely through ratings talk and has several endings that are worth seeing. They are aware of the drama and the very violent nature of the events. Seeing such turns in a simple game (from a gameplay perspective) success. I highly recommend giving it a try.

4. Honkai: Star Railway

Genre: JRPG
About what: A group of heroes solve problems on different planets.

Of course, one cannot fail to mention the stories created by HoYoverse when it comes to mobile games. Yes, Genshin also has a fascinating plot, but in my subjective opinion, it is better in Honkai.

The plot in Honkai is structured similarly to long-running anime series and is divided into large story arcs. The first arc tells of the awakening of the main characters (or heroines) on a space station where chaos reigns and people die. Fortunately, the station can be saved, and the Pathfinder (as our hero will be called) will join a group of researchers who will study the planet in search of mysterious artifacts.

Each planet will have its own interesting story in a unique setting, both visual and narrative. And how many plots and few stories are conveyed here is not even worth mentioning. If you adapt to Honkai: Star Rail enough, you can literally “read”, so there is a lot of interesting things here.

Yes, you can argue a lot about the fact that this is an anime (although it has little to do with anime other than the way the story is presented.) and in general a Chinese game that is impossible to play without donating. But first, the entire story and additional content of the game is closed without the need to twist the characters. Secondly, I received Kafkawithout paying a penny, and only you can decide what follows from this.

5. Twilight Forest

Genre: detective, visual novel
About what: in the next city I’m looking for a missing girl, chatting.

And finally, I would like to talk about the most interesting project, in my personal opinion. I want to emphasize the word “project”, because calling the game Duskwood in full is a stretch.

Twilight Forest is, first of all, the name of a small town where everyone knows each other. And the sudden absorption of the girl by the name of Hannah became a real tragedy for all residents. We are assigned the role of identifying the lead to find the poor fellow. The fact is that Hannah’s friends received a message from her phone, where there was nothing except the player’s number.

The entire gameplay is a text quest, the plot of which develops quite slowly and takes place in a messenger visible in Telegram. You have to get to know the characters, get into their characters and gradually understand that each of them can be involved in tragedies, and what kind of ending awaits this story… To be honest, after completing this quest I couldn’t sleep for a couple of days.

The Twilight Forest looks frighteningly realistic. During the investigation, I more than once caught myself thinking that I was communicating not with a set of visual novel scripts, but with an elevated person and the general atmosphere, and this only strengthens this feeling.

It will be interesting, I guarantee it.

I hope something from the list interested you (Twilight Forest definitely should), and you have already started to get involved. Plots in video games are complex things, and I am very glad that even on smartphones there is something to play not only spinal cord.

And if I forgot something, please comment – actively add to this list and share your impressions.
