Google has agreed to delete US user data it collected while using Chrome in incognito mode. If this is impossible to do, then Google is obliged to anonymize the information.

This is one of the terms of the settlement of a class action lawsuit that was filed in 2020. The plaintiffs accused Google of unexpected surveillance and demanded $5 billion.

The settlement requires Google to fully disclose how it collects information in incognito mode. Google will also be prohibited from sharing incognito data that directly affects users in the future.

Google is not donating money to the class action lawsuit. But dissatisfied users have the right to sue Google strictly and throw water. 50 claims have already been registered. [The Verge]
