Kicksharing Whoosh began using artificial intelligence-based technology in St. Petersburg, which detects if the user is not riding a scooter alone. To estimate the number of people, the system analyzes more than 50 data parameters and uses Machine Learning algorithm, the company said.

Previously, the service tested ride-pool detection and has now extended it to all scooters in St. Petersburg. As they point out in Whoosh, the city will become a center of innovation, new products and technological developments in the service.
Anti-tandem technology is a completely domestic development. The system identifies the number of people on a device, regardless of the users’ weight and height. The development makes it possible to determine if a person is traveling with a heavy backpack or if a child is traveling with the user.
In the future, Whoosh will gradually reduce movement speed if travel is in violation. Therefore, traveling two people on a scooter will be inconvenient.
A system of fines is also planned to be introduced, but this will only be used after a repeated infringement.
The company notes that a significant proportion of falls are associated with riding a scooter together. Participants in such incidents often cite loss of control as the cause.
In the summer of 2023, electric scooter and bicycle rental service Yurent ran a provocative advertising campaign against scooter sharing. The company posted posters in Moscow calling these users “roosters” and calling their use of the devices “annoying.”
