At the end of 2021, Google’s Russian subsidiary paid the parent company 10 billion rubles in the form of dividends and taxes, and now Google LLC’s bankruptcy administrator Valery Talyarovsky is demanding its return. The manager’s statement says that Google International LLC, the sole member of Google, decided in December 2020 to distribute the retained earnings of the Russian subsidiary from previous years, for 2015-2017, in the amount of up to 10 billion rubles.
These dividends of approximately $128.7 million (approximately 9.5 billion rubles at the time) were paid in December 2021. Google paid another 500 million rubles to the budget as corporate income tax on income received in the form of dividends from Russian companies to foreign organizations.
According to Valery Talyarovsky, the decisions and transactions were carried out in the context of a process in Russian courts with the Tsargrad media holding, which ended with the imposition of a progressive legal sanction of billions of dollars on Google structures.
He is also sure that the transactions are invalid, since they were carried out on the eve of Google’s bankruptcy and were aimed at harming creditors.
The manager’s statement notes that as of January 10, 2024, the register of creditors of Google LLC included claims of second priority creditors in the amount of almost 285 million rubles, claims of third priority creditors in the amount of more than 20.3 billion rubles. , creditor claims for the collection of penalties and the application of other financial sanctions in the amount of more than 33 billion rubles. Current needs amount to approximately 6.4 billion rubles.
