Moscow’s Tverskoy Court imposed a preventive measure in the form of house arrest against blogger Dmitry Portnyagin. He will remain in custody until June 10, 2024 and is also prohibited from carrying out certain activities, such as using the Internet. This was reported by the press service of the Moscow courts of general jurisdiction.
The investigation accused Portnyagin of tax evasion worth 124 million rubles. According to the Investigative Committee, Portnyagin and his wife Ekaterina evaded paying taxes and transferred 91 million rubles to third-party accounts. Portnyagin only admitted guilt to tax evasion; He did not admit guilt for money laundering.
Dmitry Portnyagin, known as “Transformer”, was arrested on April 12 in Rostov-on-Don and a criminal case was opened against him the day before. Searches were carried out at Portnyagin’s house, as well as at the bath complex and the Club 500 business club that belongs to him.
