Rumors that the Surface Laptop 6 will come with Snapdragon X Elite have now been confirmed. A mysterious “OEMBR OEMBR” laptop has appeared on Geekbench; likely a Surface Laptop 6 powered by the Snapdragon X Elite X1E80100 chip.
There are three variants of the X Elite chip in total, with slight differences in CPU and GPU frequencies. Geekbench has published four test results for the new processor inside the Surface Laptop 6. The result is around 2700 in single core and around 14000 in multi core.
The laptop was running in “Balanced” energy saving mode; Performance could have been higher with better cooling. However, the test conditions are not reliably known; The result largely depends on them.
Judging by the numbers, the Surface Laptop 6 can easily compete with the Apple MacBook Pro and M3 Pro.
Note that Microsoft already offers business versions of the Surface Laptop 6 and Surface Pro 10 on Intel Core Ultra 5 and Core Ultra 7.
