Microsoft will spend $1.7 billion to develop its cloud and artificial intelligence infrastructure in Indonesia. The company’s press service highlights that this is the largest investment in the 29-year history of the corporation’s cooperation with an Asian country.

The company clarifies that the amount will be invested over the next four years. The investment will also train 840,000 people in artificial intelligence and support a growing community of local developers.
Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella announced plans to provide AI training opportunities to 2.5 million people in Association of Southeast Asian Nations countries by 2025.
According to Indonesian Minister of Communications and Information Technology Budi Ari Setiadi, Microsoft’s initiative will help implement the Golden Indonesia 2045 program. The goal of the program is to transform the country into an international economic power by 2045.
The country hopes that the partnership with the American computer giant “will open new horizons”, thanks to which Indonesia could become “a key participant in the global technology chain.”
