The volume of investments in bonds amounted to 83.8 billion rubles, exchange-traded funds – 15.8 billion rubles. Net outflows in the equity segment amount to 4.9 billion rubles.

The number of people with brokerage accounts on the Moscow Stock Exchange at the end of April exceeded 31.5 million and 55.9 million accounts were opened. In April, almost 4 million private investors carried out transactions on the Moscow Stock Exchange.

The share of natural persons in the stock trading volume reached 76.6%, in the bond trading volume 31.4%, in the spot foreign exchange market 12.2% and in the derivatives market 64.8%.

The most popular securities in private investors’ portfolios in April 2024:

  • ordinary and preferred shares of Sberbank (30.1% and 7%, respectively),
  • LUKOIL shares (14.5%),
  • Gazprom (13.5%),
  • “Yandex” (8.8%),
  • preferred shares of Surgutneftegaz (6.2%),
  • Rosneft shares (5.9%),
  • Norilsk Nickel (5.2%),
  • Severstal (4.5%),
  • “Magnit” (4.3%).

The top 10 regions by the number of people with brokerage accounts on the stock exchange include Moscow and the region, St. Petersburg, the Krasnodar region, the Sverdlovsk region, the Republic of Bashkortostan, the Republic of Tatarstan, the region of Rostov, Chelyabinsk region and Samara region.
