The American corporation Microsoft will launch its own Xbox mobile application store in July 2024. The first version of the store will be browser-based.

As Xbox President Sarah Bond revealed at the Bloomberg Technology Summit, the App Store will run in the browser rather than through a separate app. This is how the company intends to bypass the restrictions of Apple and Google.
Bond emphasized that thanks to the web version, the platform will be “available on all devices in all countries, no matter what and regardless of closed ecosystem store policies.”
Mobile games from Microsoft development studios, such as Call of Duty: Mobile and Candy Crush Saga, will be available in the store. Additionally, cross-platform hit Minecraft will appear in one of the first versions of the site.
The head of Xbox added that there is still no gaming platform or app store that is “truly present on all devices, where you, your library, your personality and your rewards travel with you, instead of being tied to a ecosystem”.
Microsoft’s project depends largely on how quickly Apple and Google comply with the EU Digital Markets Law, which came into force in March this year, and open their mobile app stores, as well as similar actions in USA.
At the same time, the corporation has no intention of waiting and is already developing a strategy according to which it will compete with the sites of Google and Apple.
Previously, Microsoft announced the imminent closure of the Xbox 360 Game Store. Starting July 29, 2024, users will not be able to purchase games from the Xbox 360 Store, but will retain access to games already purchased.
