Known for its gaming monitors, Agon by AOC has announced a brand new display that will delight gamers especially those who are into first-person shooters: Agon Pro AG274QS. The refresh rate of this screen is 300 Hertz.

The Agon Pro AG274QS has a 27-inch display, a high resolution of 2,560 x 1,440 pixels (also called QHD) and hence a high refresh rate of 300 Hertz. What makes this display (still) special is that it’s one of the first QHD displays on the market with such a high refresh rate.

So this gaming monitor has more than double the normal refresh rate of monitors keeping the same target group in mind. Normally, such screens have 144 Hertz as their main selling point.

This should sound like music to the ears of gamers who are often into first-person shooter games where milliseconds matter. The faster the user can spot the opponent turning the corner, or the faster they can follow the opponent’s erratic movements over time, the faster they can react and gain an edge over the competition.

Agon Pro AG274QS: low response speed

With response times of 1 ms GtG (gray to gray) and 0.5 ms MPRT (motion picture response time), fast actions are displayed on the monitor smoothly and with virtually no ghosting. Also, the monitor features Adaptive-Sync technology and AMD FreeSync Premium support, so tearing and stuttering are kept to a minimum by using a variable refresh rate.

In addition, the AG274QS is DisplayHDR 600 certified. The screen can offer up to 600 nits of peak brightness to simultaneously display bright bursts or landscapes with clear sunlight and harsh shadows.

Also, the edges around this screen are very thin on at least three sides. This makes the design ideal for using a multi-monitor setup, as the edges between screens are not distracting. There is also a logo projector as well as RGB (Light FX) effects that can be customized and synchronized with other AOC hardware thanks to the G-Menu software. The Agon Pro AG274Q has a solid metal stand and therefore offers many options in terms of height, tilt and rotation directions.

With four USB 3.2 ports, the monitor can act as a dock to connect additional peripherals such as keyboard, mouse, USB headset and more. There are also two 5W speakers with DTS audio. Also, the monitor has an integrated headphone holder so your desk stays organized. The included disc-shaped QuickSwitch controller makes it very easy to adjust OSD settings, while also being controlled via the joystick or G-Menu software.

price and availability

The Agon Pro AG274QS is currently available at a suggested retail price of 1199 Euros.
