Google announced two artificial intelligence (AI) focused on media production this Tuesday (14) during Google I/O, Imagen 3 and Veo. The first is a new version of Imagen that produces images via text commands, while the second focuses on video creation, competing directly with OpenAI’s Sora.

Both platforms are only available to a select group of creators at ImageFX and VideoFX. There’s no estimate yet on when they’ll be available to the general public, but it’s possible to sign up for the waitlist.

According to Google, Imagen 3 is capable of creating much better images than its previous version. A significant improvement has been made in the understanding of prompts, allowing the creation of photos that are more true to the user’s wishes.

Google also emphasizes that Imagen 3 can create different photo styles, from images to more realistic patterns. Another point is that it will be possible to include words and even entire sentences in the images created by artificial intelligence.

Imagen 3 will also get features such as interior painting and exterior painting found in previous versions. Finally, Google announced that some of its AI tools will be extended to other company applications such as Gemini, Google Ads, Workspace, and more.

Veo is capable of creating videos up to one minute in up to 1080p. The tool can interpret user commands and display scene details. It is also possible to edit the results, move elements, and even add some changes such as extra moves.

Another highlight is that Veo also allows adding images to create video creation commands. Just add the photo and prompt with details of the items to be created.

Google also underlines that some Veo features may be used for YouTube Shorts in the future.
