Google will invest one billion euros in the construction of a data center in Finland. This is what he said in a statement.
The company will be located in the city of Hamina, near the border between Russia and Finland. The population of the city, according to public sources, is about 19 thousand people. The excess heat that will be generated during the operation of the data center will be used to heat the city.
Many large corporations locate data centers in Finland and other Nordic countries due to the suitable climate for cooling the centers. In 2022, Microsoft set up data centers in the Helsinki area, the heat of which is used to heat the city.
